9 Boomers headed over the mountain pass to hike Colchuck Lake “The Gateway To The Enchantments”. Arrived in Leavenworth around 4:00pm and drove up the Icicle River Valley to 8 Mile Campground. We found an amazing double site within minutes. Nice open site with fire pit, huge table and a short walk to water and potty. We set up camp and headed back to Leavenworth for a traditional Bavarian dinner. We were serenaded by a terrific accordion player who had us singing and clapping through the entire meal. What a hoot. Up at 5am to pack up camp, have a quick bowl of yogurt, granola & blueberries – then off to the trailhead. Got to the lake by 11:00 – had our traditional PBJ and a dip in the emerald green lake – Boomer Jamie took first place in floating time in the frigid water. Hiked out with another dinner in Leavenworth and the 3 hour drive home. The perfect adventure.
I wish I was there! Looks like you had a GREAT time!
We packed so much fun into 31 hours! Where else can you take off work for a day & a half, and experience a world-class adventure? This was definitely a “WOW!”
